About the event
In recognition of R U OK? Day join our Mito Wellbeing Call.
“I’m fine” 2 small words we often use to brush off how we’re really feeling. For people impacted by mitochondrial disease (mito) it can feel easier to stay silent than to open up.
This Mito Wellbeing Call, held on R U OK? Day, is a safe, welcoming space to explore what’s behind “I’m fine” and how we can start having more honest, meaningful conversations that build connection and support.
We’re joined by Diane, a mental health social worker and a member of the mito community. With warmth and insight, Diane will guide us through a shared learning session focused on emotional wellbeing, communication, and the strength that comes from being real.
What we’ll explore together:
- why we say “I’m fine” and what we might really mean
- how to recognise moments when we’re not okay
- tools for having honest conversations – with ourselves and others
- how to support someone who says they’re “fine” when they might not be
- finding safe spaces and people where you can speak freely
Who it’s for?
This event is for anyone impacted by mito. This includes people living with mito, carers, family members, and friends. Whether you feel like talking or just want to listen, you’re welcome.
Why join?
By joining the event you’ll gain:
- a deeper understanding of emotional expression and self-awareness
- practical ways to check in with yourself and others
- the confidence to speak more openly about how you’re really feeling
- a sense of connection with others in the mito community
R U OK? Day is about the power of a conversation. Join this event to join the conversation.
