Project Name
Generation of new mouse models of mitochondrial DNA disease
Project Details
Dr McKenzie is an Australian Research Council Future Fellow at Monash Institute of Medical Research-Prince Henry’s Institute in Melbourne, Victoria. His research focuses on understanding the pathogenic mechanisms that underlie mitochondrial disease. Dr McKenzie is well known, in Australia and internationally, for his research and has made significant contributions to our understanding of how mitochondrial dysfunction causes mito.
Dr McKenzie commented, “Mitochondria have unique genetic features which make mitochondrial DNA diseases hard to study. This the Mito Foundation Incubator Grant will enable me to develop new mouse models that will be invaluable for our understanding and future treatment of mito”.
