Each year we plan events that connect members of the mito community to important information about living with mito. These events also create opportunities to interact with each other to share experiences and learnings.

Participation in our events has shifted over the past few years. The biggest change is more people are attending online events than in-person events.  We recently completed a survey asking mito community members what they value most about our events and want from future events. Thank you to everyone who responded to help inform our future approach.

What we heard

The most highly valued aspects of our community events are:

  • Practical topics e.g. mito symptom management
  • Opportunities to hear from mito experts
  • Meeting others with similar experiences (in-person and online)

Our community wants more information that can be watched or listened to, ideally in less than 20 minutes.

Accessibility of our information and our events is very important, and we need to offer more options.

What we’re planning for 2024

These quarterly webinars will feature guest speakers addressing topics important to the mito community. Participants are encouraged to submit questions to be answered by leading mito experts.

Mito social events

Have you wanted to connect with others impacted by mito in your local area? Perhaps in a social setting or involving a fun activity? Mito Foundation is offering financial and logistical assistance to help make these events happen.

Launching 1 March 2024!

Mito Community Summit 2024

Save the date: 30 November – 1 December

After successful events in 2022 and 2023, the summit will return in 2024 alongside the AussieMit scientific conference. These will take place in Melbourne in November. The summit will be a unique opportunity to spend 2 days connecting with other mito community members, hearing from mito experts in research and medicine, and engaging with interactive activities. Travel grants will be available. Express your interest in the summit and check out the 2023 photo gallery.

Mito wellbeing calls

These bi-monthly calls are facilitated by mental health professionals. They provide opportunities for mito community members to learn about wellbeing techniques, share experiences, and learn from others with mito.

Mito meet-ups

These online support groups are led by the mito community. Participants come together to share experiences and learn from others at a variety of events every month.
