  • other mitochondrial DNA changes.

It is designed to target pathways linked to inflammation, cell protection and mitochondrial function.

Researchers are studying whether it can help improve mitochondrial energy production and physical function in people with primary mitochondrial disease.

What research has been done on this therapy?

OMT-28 has been tested in a Phase 2a study. This study included people with primary mitochondrial disease who had myopathy, cardiomyopathy, or both.

The study enrolled 29 people across 9 expert sites in Germany, Italy and the Netherlands. Participants had a 12-week period without treatment, then took OMT-28 once a day for up to 24 weeks.
