Mito Foundation Research Equipment Grants supplement funding provided by the laboratory or other funding sources for the purchase of equipment to facilitate research on primary mitochondrial disease.

The goals of the Research Equipment Grant are:

  • Make vital equipment available to researchers to advance their work into primary mitochondrial disease
  • Enhance collaboration by making equipment available to other researchers in the field of mitochondrial medicine
  • Contribute to direct impact on the mitochondrial disease community

Funding information

Mito Foundation Research Equipment Grants are charitable grants of up to A$50,000 to supplement funding provided by the laboratory or other funding sources for the purchase of the equipment.

Mito Foundation reserves the right not to award Research Equipment Grant funding in any given year.

Important dates

Grant applications open: 9 February 2024

Grant applications close: 22 March 2024

Outcomes announcement: Late May 2024

  1. The main use of the equipment must be primary mitochondrial disease research
  2. Co-funding from another organisation is required, Mito Foundation will only provide supplementary funding towards the purchase of equipment
  3. Retrospective funding is not eligible
  4. Australian and overseas applications are welcome

  • Mito Foundation Research Equipment Grant Application Form
  • Applicant CV (maximum 2 pages)
  • Co-investigator(s) and group leader CVs (maximum 2 pages; if applicable)
  • A recent equipment quote by the equipment provider
  • Co-funding contribution letter(s) of support
  • Confirmed reporting requirements from previous Mito Foundation funding are up to date (if applicable)
