Medical Cooling and Heating Electricity Concession Scheme
Mito patients who have issues with regulating their body temperature may be eligible for the Medical Heating and Cooling Concession, an annual rebate on electricity in addition to the electricity rebate listed above. South Australian Transport Subside Scheme (SATSS)
Mito Patients who are unable to use public transport independently may be eligible for the SATSS. This includes the Taxi Fare Subsidy Scheme, entitling the holder to receive subsidised taxi travel and the Plus One FREE COMPANION card which provides free travel for a companion or carer on Adelaide public transport. Applicants who are eligible for the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) must go through the NDIS application process before applying for the SATSS. Mito patients who have a vision impairment may be eligible for the ‘Travel Pass for Person with a Vision Impairment’ which entitles them to travel for free on all Adelaide Metro bus, train and tram services. Find out more.
Disability Parking Scheme
Disability Parking Permit holders may park in spaces where the international symbol of access is shown and have an extension in timed spaces. Mito patients who have severely restricted speed of movement and have difficulty using public transport may be eligible. The application form and further information is available here.
Telephone Services: Priority/Special Assistance
Some telecommunication providers offer priority or special assistance to people who have a life-threatening medical condition and whose life may be at risk without access to a fully operational phone service. Mito patients who are at high risk of cardiovascular emergencies or patients who live alone, without support or in remote locations may be eligible.
